Mall Display
January 9, 2009

Above is a picture of our car with our driver Kevin Sullivan, below a picture of just our car at the DuBois
Mall display that was held January 9 & 10, 2008. This display was held to help get the word out to more people about
the soapbox derby being back in DuBois. Plus it gave the kids a chance to show off their cars and talk about it to other
people.

On November 8, 2008, the DuBois Area Soap Box Derby conducted a single-car time trials on the West Long Avenue
track, from the top of the hill in the vicinity of Evergreen, Howard, and Chestnut to the finish line 630 feet below at the
bottom of the race hill. The car, driving by Nate Lee (age 13) crossed the finish line in approx. 30 seconds at a speed
approaching 22 mph. The trials were conducted to allow the Committee to witness and evaluate the physical parameters
of the race track. The data and information collected will then be used to refine subsequent race planning, preparatory
to the full fledged trial runs by all race car driveers which is set for next June 6th, two weeks before race day.
